Today is 2/22/22, and is most likely the coolest date of the decade! What makes it cool is that it is a palindrome date, which means it can be read the same way backward and forward. What makes it the coolest is that it happens to fall on a Tuesday, which has been dubbed ‘Twosday’.
According to the Farmer’s Almanac, the next palindrome date will be 1/20/3021. So how did we choose to celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime Day of Twos on campus?
The lower school had a ‘Twosday’ schedule when, at the 22-minute mark of each hour, they did something special! In the morning, they did 22 jumping jacks, ran in place for two minutes, high-fived friends for 22 seconds, then hopped on one foot for 22 seconds, and after lunch, students did 22 squats and 22 toe-touches.
For lunch, most of the lower school partook in Taco Twosday! Taco bars were set up as a treat, complete with all the fiesta toppings for this celebracion! Preschool and third grade did their own versions of lunch, including paired foods like milk and cookies, and chips and queso.
The party didn’t stop there! Throughout the day, core and specials class lessons were taught around twos or doing things by twos, etc. Classes also chose themes to make it a dress-up day. Preschool students decorated headbands and paraded down the hallway to their classroom as animals going two by two just like in the story of Noah’s Ark! First grade dressed up as princes/knights and princesses. Fourth grade chose a fun take on food, dressing up as ketchup and mustard! Fifth-graders dressed up as Marvel Vs. DC heroes.
Teachers also got into the dress-up fun! Some even made their own customized shirts1
The big finale was at 2:22 PM when the whole lower school got their dance on during a 22-minute dance party in the gym! Teachers led students in dances like the Chicken Dance, but the gym went crazy when the first beats of "We Don't Talk About Bruno" from Disney's Encanto began.
Mrs. Link surprised students from each classroom by drawing names to receive $2 bills! What a great way to end the day!
It’s been decided, it’s impossible to have ‘two much’ fun on ‘Twosday,’ Tuesday, 2/22/22.
