Grateful

Our entire school body enjoyed a special Thanksgiving Praise Chapel together Tuesday morning, focusing on giving thanks to God for all the ways He has blessed us as individuals and as a school.

Upper School students filled the auditorium, and Lower School classes streamed the service from their classrooms, while they weren’t performing, as we all worshipped together. Lower School students sang songs of thankfulness and quoted Scripture expressing gratitude for all that God has done and continues to do for us. Our Upper School Drama class presented how thankfulness should be a daily habit, especially for those of us who are children of God. The High School Praise Team, organized by alumni Josh Hendley, led the student body in corporate worship. Student body president, Dylan Weer, shared with his peers why he is thankful for Salem in a presidential proclamation that ended in a reflection on 1 Thessalonians 5:18.

Campus Ministries aired a video they produced which highlighted several teachers and students who shared what they’re grateful for specifically.

Salem Baptist Church pastor, Kivett Hicks, drew our attention to Luke 17:11-18. In this passage, Jesus heals ten lepers from their disease, but only one returns to thank Jesus for this miracle. From this story, Pastor Kivett encouraged us to do two things: 1) Be thankful no matter the circumstance and 2) Don’t only feel thankful, act thankful also.

As we approach Thanksgiving, we want to express our gratitude to all the families that are a part of Salem Baptist Christian School. Thank you for being part of the Salem family and for allowing us to educate your children. We are thankful for the School Board members, for SBC, and for all the local churches that support our school. Finally, we are thankful to the faculty and staff members, for their dedication to this ministry.

“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever.” Psalm 107:1
