Salem Baptist Christian School Welcomes Dr. Dean Campbell as Interim Middle School & High School Principal
After Mark Baker's announcement to step away and pursue God's calling to serve in our state government, SBCS leadership began praying for God's provision in finding a candidate to fill the position. It wasn't long before candidates applied, and after a diligent process, Dr. Dean Campbell was hired.
Dr. Campbell's educational background includes a B.A. in Political Science from Yale University where he also started all 4 years on the basketball team. He earned an M.A. in Higher Education Administration and Student Development from Boston College and an Ed.D. in Education Leadership from the University of Southern California.
While most of Dr. Campbell's experience includes secular university leadership and teaching positions, he said the opportunity to serve at a private Christian school is a blessing: "I believe God has called me to SBCS, where I can share my faith and not only lead students to academic success, but also equip them to serve out God's calling in their own lives."
Dr. Campbell lives in High Point with his wife and two teenage children. He has two adult daughters and three grandchildren who live out of state. Dr. Campbell found God while studying in California. It was there he met the young lady who became his wife. Her faith and how she lived inspired Dr. Campbell to attend church with her. "The way she read and talked about the Bible," Dr. Campbell said, "showed me it was the living Word. I hadn't known that before." Hearing the Gospel at church, he realized his need to be born again and professed his faith in Jesus. He and his family attend Life Community Church in Jamestown, where Dr. and Mrs. Campbell teach the 5th-grade boys Sunday School class.
