Middle School Math Teacher

Salem Baptist Christian School is looking for passionate, energetic teachers as our middle school continues to grow to reach more students in the Winston Salem, NC area. For the 2021-2022 school year, we have an opening for a full-time math teacher in our middle school. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in math education or related field is required Master’s degree is a plus ACSI or state teaching certification should be obtained within the first year of teaching Experience: 2-5 years prior teaching experience is preferred Prior experience working with adolescents in various church, work, and/or volunteer settings is required Position Summary: Teachers at SBCS are responsible for teaching each subject from a biblical worldview while including a variety of teaching methods that accommodate the learning styles and abilities of all students in the classroom. They establish routines and procedures that promote learning, limit distractions, and facilitate a safe and welcoming environment. Communication with students, parents, coworkers, and administrators must be a priority through lesson planning, emails, FACTS, and meetings. All teachers must actively participate in the school’s ongoing process of curriculum development through required meetings, assigned tasks, and other areas as determined by the curriculum director and principals. All middle school teachers will report directly to the upper school principal. The upper school at SBCS is on a block schedule with 90-minute classes. The middle school math teacher will teach grades 6-8 including Math 6, Math 7, Pre-Algebra, and Algebra 1. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Discovery Center Teacher Assistant

The Discovery Center at SBCS is for students who are functioning below grade level in reading and math and would benefit from smaller classes and more specialized instruction. The program is designed to enable the students to discover success and achievement in a small group setting, and at a pace that suits their individual needs. In addition to the academic program, students also receive life-skills instruction as well as participate in electives. Some students are able to mainstream into the regular academic classes when their skills reach the point that they will be successful in the class. Qualifications: High School Diploma required Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in special education is a plus Experience: 2-5 years prior experience in a special education classroom a plus Prior experience working with special needs children in various church, work, and/or volunteer settings is required Position Summary: Discovery Center Teacher Assistants are responsible for assisting the Discovery Center Teachers as they teach each subject from a biblical worldview while including a variety of teaching methods that accommodate the learning styles and abilities of all students in the classroom. They implement routines and procedures that promote learning, limit distractions, and facilitate a safe and welcoming environment. Teacher assistants in this program conduct small group reinforcement lessons under the direction of the Discovery Center Teachers and assist in the classroom as determined by the teacher. Communication with students, parents, coworkers, and administrators must be a priority through assisting with assessments, emails, and meetings. All Discovery Center Teacher Assistants will report to the Discovery Center Director.
