Student Council

The purpose of our student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects. In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit and community, the student council is the voice of the student body.

Executive Officers 2021-2022

My name is Dylan Weer and I am a Senior. This is my eleventh year at Salem. I go to Edgewood Baptist Church with my family. I have two siblings, my brother, Kyle, who is in 9th grade, and my sister, Brielle, who is in 5th grade. I'm in the band, eSports Club, National Honor Society, Beta Club, Campus Ministries, and I was on the cross country team. I enjoy playing games, being with my friends and family, playing my trumpet, and riding my bike. I wanted to become president so I could bring my best for the school in the best way possible, and to help the entire school work together to stand out.

My name is Mary Vlachos and I am a Senior here at Salem. This is my second year as a Viking. I am from Winston-Salem and I previously attended Reynolds High School.  At Salem, I am a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, and the yearbook staff. I am also a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, where I am actively engaged with my youth group. I have three younger siblings at Salem. Marianna is a Sophomore, Lenia is a ninth-grader, and Lily is a fifth-grader. In my short time here, I have developed a great respect for Salem’s academics, students, staff, and the presence of Christ.  In my free time, I like to dance and hang out with my friends and family. I wanted to be a part of the student council because I want to be a voice for my peers and I want to bring more student interaction and involvement to Salem.

I’m Lauren Marra, I’m sixteen, and I’m currently a Junior. This is my fourteenth year at Salem, and I have been a student council representative since sixth grade. I am a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, Student Ministries, varsity volleyball team, and varsity soccer team. Some of my favorite hobbies are playing sports, kayaking, painting, and just hanging out with my friends. I have also attended Triad Baptist Church all my life and really enjoy going to youth. I am super excited to be an executive officer and am eager to get started!

My name is Alexis Covington. This is my thirteenth year at Salem and my first on Student Council. I play on the varsity volleyball and soccer teams, and I am also part of the National Honor Society and Beta Club. I am very involved in Merriwood Christian Camp, where I grew up, and my youth group at Salem Baptist Church. I don’t have much spare time between school, camp, church, and sports, but when I do, I enjoy baking, doing crafts, and hanging out with friends. I’m looking forward to serving as treasurer of the student council during the 2021-2022 school year.
